Sad News

Sir,

It is my sad duty to report the demise of Sub-Sergeant Amnos 2717. Here are the details.

Our intelligence office felt that due to the lack of information from the Lola unit, we need to conduct our own research in Earth affairs. We therefore decided to plan our approach as per usual. Our ship entered the atmosphere at the cosmic light junction known to the local inhabitants as the Aurora Borealis. The field produced by this effect shields our ship from detection by the crude defense abilities of these creatures.

Our destination was a small City-State located in the larger City-State known as American. The specific destination was a small building in the City-State know as New Mexico. We landed nearby and walked to the building named “Bob’s.”

Our intelligence office found information regarding a club meeting in this building. A club is an Earth social gathering. These gatherings generally look for new members to continue in their ranks.

This club consisted of members who drove motorized bi-wheeled transportation devices. The name of the club was “Hell’s Angels”. We approached the club using motorized b-wheeled transportation devices acquired from a retailer of these devices. We arrived at night and disabled the ridiculously easy security system.

When we arrived at the club meeting, we were approached by several large club members dressed in black dyed animal skins. These club members exhorted us to leave. Sub-Sergeant Amnos 2717 aggressively responded to the club members. This resulted in his being attacked by the club members. They use steel pipes and sharpened blades. We used our stun rays to contain the situation.

We evacuated Sub-Sergeant Amnos 2717, but he expired before we reached the ship.
While we were en route to LURKER7, our intelligence team discovered that clubs owe allegiance to specific manufacturer’s of these motorized bi-wheeled transportation devices. Apparently, showing up with motorized bi-wheeled transportation devices marked “Honda” at a club with motorized bi-wheeled transportation devices marked, “Harley” would cause a reaction to which we were subjected.

Although the cost was great, I am heartened by the level of division in human society. I think any invasion attempt would be met with a confused defense as they vie for a solution.
I am of course saddened by the loss of Sub-Sergeant Amnos 2717. He was a fine Security leader. Any pain that we feel is lightened by the fact he will soon be joined by his family.

Security Breach

Sir,

We have seemed to have experienced and embarrassing security breach of Magnitude 1 proportions. It seems our last transmission was broadcast throughout the whole human World Wide Web system.

I have placed this station on high alert, and have monitored to detect any counter-attacks planned by the humans. My security team has been working for the past week at all hours to assess the damage that this breach has caused to out plans.

It seems no one noticed.

I have instructed that we return to the security level Yellow. Our staff sociologist thinks that the humans may perceive our reports as a "hoax" and not taking things seriously. My assessment is that this is indeed the case. Obviously the humans live in a aura of indestructibility and refuse to accept their doom as it approaches.

We are continuing are construction into the lunar surface and will keep you appraised of our progress.

We have not received any reports for our contractor using the Lola unit. We suspect a malfunction and will not incur any other expenses until information is received.

Command Operational

Lunar Underground Royal Klandenstine Espionage and Research Forces

Sir,

It is my profound pleasure to report that as of this date, LURKER7 is operational. While not all systems are online, we have defense and espionage capabilities. We are also expanding the facilities under the lunar surface. This moon is excellent for construction purposes. The rock is solid broken only by expansion and contraction of underground water. This water has added in our construction, both by carving huge cavities within the underlying surface strata and well as allowing rapid drainage. We have, of course, lined each of these caverns with enough material to ensure a protected atmosphere.

As of now, I do not anticipate a problem with the anticipated invasion date of 73505.5, but as I have just assumed command, I wish to reserve judgment in the next few lunar time cycles.

We have encountered some disturbing developments. Previously Vice Admiral Mrtyle317 made arrangement with some on-Earth intelligence gathering contractors. Although personally I have never like hiring civilian contractors to do military work, we were not operational and needed current intel.

The company, Alien Anthropologist Research Group, assured us they would have several units operational. As of this point, only one a “Lola” unit is functioning. We have seen some of the reports from this unit and are not impressed. They realize that the unit is undergoing some sort of transitional phase and have techs place to restore some sort of hormonal balance.

We questioned the use of a female-based unit as opposed to male-based units. The company company agreed in principle but based on past experiences, the female based unit is more stable. Three previous male-based units, self destructed in various ways, the details are too bizarre to recount here.

One particularly disturbing issue with the “Lola” unit, she is broadcasting her reports to the general population. Anyone can see reports at http://onealienlife.blogspot.com/. I am to meet with the general partner of the organization to rework our agreement with them.

The other is more insidious. Apparently, a research librarian is broadcasting information about previous invasion/intelligence gathering attempts. He is broadcasting to the general populace at http://sottovoce.avwrites.com/?cat=20. We were able to arrange his vacating an urban area to a relative back-water location, at this point we feel that has rendered him “mostly harmless” to our plans. We will continue to monitor the situation.

On a personal note, although I was shocked at Vice Admiral Mrtyle317 recent comments in free space, I understand your response. I assure nothing like that will happen in this command. My only request is that you office treat his family well, and make it quick and painless. As to the reporter who broadcast the comments, we have disassembled her and are storing her organs for future use. The meal was excellent, by the way.
